A couple months ago, I heard from someone that attending an Up screening that Pixar had included a talking dog character to co-exist with the humans. I thought for sure these guys had finally slipped up. Oh, how the mighty had fallen for adorable talking pooches. I mean, a completely unjustified spe...

I'm getting really excited to see Up! I finally watched Wall-E a few days ago and was struck yet again by how brilliant Pixar can be. They so rarely disappoint, knowing exactly how to paint a scene to render it most affecting. I'm expecting the dog with the talking collar in the new Up trailer above...

If you couldn’t already tell, I’m a Pixar fanatic. To me there is something so extremely special about the Emeryville-based animation studio’s special brand of storytelling. I remember being in Hall H at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con when Andrew Stanton unveiled the beginning of WAL...

Last week Brad Bird revealed that he was still trying to crack the screenplay for his live-action debut 1906 , which seemed baffling to us. In March 2008, our spies told us that Pixar was busy building virtual scale models of a period-era San Francisco and that Warner Bros had put a hold on all of t...

Before seeing Henry Selick's rather amazing "Coraline," I was convinced that 3-D, be it in movies or television, was simply a gimmick to catch our extremely short attention spans for a few seconds. Now, however, at least when it comes to animation, you can count me as a true believer. Actually, I wa...
