This morning we launched the Guardian Open Platform at a well attended event in our new offices in Kings Place. This is one of the main projects I’ve been helping out with since joining the Guardian last year, and it’s fantastic to finally have it out in the open. There are two components to the...

Last year, I did a few reviews of books by Packt Publishing. This year, they got their own back - Packt have asked me to write a book for them called PHP And jQuery. The book is aimed at experienced PHP programmers who are interested in adding a bit of client-side magic to their sites. jQuery is use...

I'm such a jQuery nerd that I set my alarm and woke up early just to be one of the first to blog the good news. If you read my blog, you know I've been playing quite a bit with jQuery, and the jQuery UI project specifically. (Also note I've been blogging on InsideRIA as well.) The version I've been ...

It's based on jQuery and doesn't require any changes to the server-side stuff that's receiving your form submission, apart from simple tolerance of one superfluous additional form field. It's cross-browser and it auto...

Useing fadeIn() in jQuery, fonts looks crappy in IE7. I'm using jQuery's fadeIn() (and Out) on a div. Works like a charm, however the fonts in the div look like crap in IE7. Apparently IE turns off Cleartype when you fade stuff. If I use show() and hide(), the fonts look OK, but that's not what I'm ...

Recovering this morning from an amazing day at the DC MSDN Developer Conference in Reston, VA. I had a blast helping out with the keynote, presenting on Azure, and seeing and hanging out with so many folks from the Mid-Atlantic developer community. Also finally got a chance to put some faces with na...
