I had no choice... really! My iMac's Time Machine stopped backing up onto my 250GB external Fantom Drive a few weeks ago since the drive was full. Even when I formatted it, the back up would no longer fit on this drive so I have finally replaced it with WD 1TB My Book. Hopefully it will last much lo...

I have been mostly satisfied (especially with the increased speed and range from 802.11 n) but disappointed t...

I'm new to this, but I think I want to partition my drive- how do I go about doing that? And how large of a partition do I need for Time Machine? My Macbo...

Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, iTS, Internet Tools, iTunes Just like every machine with moving parts, the hard drive that holds your iTunes library will eventually stop working. Read that line again - I didn't say might stop working, but will stop. It's going to happen, so be prepared. Mark Nichol...

Earlier today I bought a Maxtor OneTouch 4 500 GB external drive. I have a LaCie external, but it is smaller than the hard drive of my MacBook so I needed a little more juice than that. My original plan was to plug it in, make a bootable Super Duper backup and then proceed. However, when I plugged i...

Filed under: OS, Airport As we noted when the latest Airport Extreme Base Station firmware shipped, Time Machine now seems to recognize USB hard drives connected to the AEBS as valid backup locations. Was this feature added deliberately? Well, Glenn Fleishman over at TidBITS took the trouble to ask ...
