Update: I'm better-ish. Still really weak and spaced out, despite sleeping for over 24 hours from Wednesday night through Friday morning, with little breaks. We'll see how the weekend goes - I have to be better for my hot movie date. Actually, it's a very mellow date but it involves one of my favori...

Yet another supposedly non-fiction "memoir" writer is accused of filling his book with exaggerations, half-truths and lies—but this time it's about baseball, so it was much easier to prove the story wrong. Odd Man Out: A Year On The Mound With A Minor League Misfit is the story of Matt McCarth...

I picked up "Surviving Life as a Dumbass" hoping to be inspired by the author’s story. After all, the description of the story is that of a man who battles back from alcoholism and helps others make changes in their......

So I spent the weekend immersing myself in cultural activities of various kind. Yesterday, while stuck at home trying to recover from the annoying cold that just doesn't seem to go away, I made it an Italian Day. I turned on my beloved Andrea Bocelli CDs, (yes, he's a fellow lawyer!), while eating I...

I’ve heard it said that in combat, when a soldier sees a comrade killed, “better him than me” flashes through his mind for just a moment. Then he spends the rest of his life regretting that one-second urge for self-preservation. What’s happening to the newspaper biz is nothin...

Seems that the reason Ken Waltzer's piece disappeared from the HNN is because Harris Salomon threatened a lawsuit. HNN simply crumbled. [See this post] When I inquired the editor even said he was not sure Rosenblat falls under the public figure category [public figures cannot sue for libel in the US...

[edited 2:41 p.m.] Peter Kubicek, one of the survivors who had been calling Herman Rosenblat's bluff for a long time and could get no one to listen, has blogged about this travesty. He describes Rosenblat as a "pathological liar" but thinks he has become increasingly deluded. Kubicek focuses his att...

The Samsung Memoir has been rumored to make its way to the nation’s newest 3G network for a very, very long time. Starting today, however, it’s available in all of T-Mobile’s retail stores, online, and over the phone. Samsung’s high-end optics on handsets are nothing new, but...

I am not sure why Ken Waltzer's essay on Herman Rosenblat's latest escapade on Good Morning America has disappeared from History News Newtork, a very useful site. In any case here's the essay, which I hope will soon be back on HNN. Holocaust Story Faker is No AngelKen WaltzerMichigan State Universit...

The publishing industry is led by experienced professionals with deep knowledge of literary appeal. So if they say Kathy Griffin deserves a $2 million book deal, who are you, the public, to argue? Today Condoleezza Rice signed a three-book deal worth $2.5 million. Okay, maybe a bit more than you wan...
