I'm not sure how much to tell you about the horned guan. I had a vague idea of the challenge of the trail to the guan, but I really don't think I fully grasped how hard it would be to see this bird. Now, I debate with myself: "Do I go on and on about how hard it was and will that prevent someone fro...

I think when I finish up the El Pilar part, I'm gonna dive right into the guan. Writing is kind of like dieting. If you depri...

If I remember correctly, we spent about $2200 ...

It was good to read that the incoming Obama administration will probably try to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba ["Guantanamo Closure Called Obama Priority," front page, Nov. 12]. One hopes that this effort will extend to all the secret prisons where the U.S. government has practiced torture...

My day usually starts around 6:30 a.m. It is a gorgeous time here on lake Atitlan. It is sunny and the lake is calm, I enjoy seeing fishermen going to work. As I sip my coffee that is grown here locally I can really appreciate the hard work the coffee farmers do so I can drink an awesome cup of coff...
