Filed under: Fugly Friday Last week I covered RogerART, but this week I'm going to look at a great source of ugly sites. Three sources, in fact. The first is known by millions of people: Fark. Yes, I picked Fark because it has, traditionally, carried a lot of links to local news sites or personal si...

Here are a bunch of things I'm looking at over the next few months. I say this in spite of the fact that I passed on tonight's Over the Rhine show at Birchmere (so very tired). And this may not include events that I can't talk about, should they exist: * Tonight, Feb 9, 7:30pm: DC area Tweetup, Indi...

If you haven't seen Fark.com, you should take a look.  It's a kind of one-line news aggregator with one-word commentary: e.g., dumbass: Man insures his honeybees.  Often the observations on the events are hilarious.  But you wouldn't or shouldn't at least consider them...

Today is my birthday, and I decided to give you all a gift that few of you have been highly anticipating for a few months now. My most popular post on this site — probably by far — was last year’s Best Internet Marketing Posts of 2007 compilation. I spent about 3 days (and nights) ...

The I ndustry Standard blogger Jordan Golson has an item today taking bigshot tech bloggers to task (or, more accurately, taking bloggers at bigshot tech blogs to task) for committing attempted journalism without actually doing any of the "journalism" bits -- "A lesson for bloggers: go to the source...

The junk that the mainstream media passes as news stories can be funny, saddening and downright dumb.  When Congress approved an additional $70 Billion for the war on terror, CNN had a more important top news story for their readers: “What will you tell kids about Britney’s sister?̶...

I was catching up on this week's Fairfax County Times (Reston/Herndon edition -- the print version comes out mid-week), and I saw a couple of stories that I thought were potentially Fark-main page worthy: The first because it involved beer pong/beiruit and offsetting stupidity; and the second becaus...

Especially when your goddam air conditioner has the brokenz.  I have not slept since Thursday night — right now the temperature inside my apartment is 91 degrees…so… I am going to stay in the cafe.  All night.  The air conditioner down here works just fine, in fact I’m her...

Another Houston Strip Club Raided: We have a rare treat as The Smoking Gun has posted a mid week mugshot round up. This time however all the subjects are from the recently raided strip club St. James Cabaret in Houston, Texas. And as always the only thing better than the mugshots themselves is the t...
