Yes, indeed. In their first game of the Big East Tournament today, Marquette defeated St. Johns by the score of 74-45. Honestly, the game wasn't even that close. The final five on the floor for the last three minutes? Frozena, Otule, Fulce, Butler, and Cubillan... that's how far ahead Marquette was....

"If you are going through hell, keep going." So said Sir Winston Churchill. And so go the Marquette Golden Eagles. After admirably competitive performances against UConn and Louisville last week, the scrappy Golden Eagles (23-6, 12-4) square off against another highly-ranked opponent on Wednesday ni...

The pursuit of Marquette's (slim chances) of a first-ever BIG EAST title continues on Saturday afternoon when the Golden Eagles (22-4, 11-2) travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the Georgetown Hoyas (14-10, 5-8). Much has been made of The Gauntlet that MU faces during the final two weeks of the reg...

Back-to-back conference losses quickly ended the burgeoning euphoria over Marquette's 9-0 start in BIG EAST conference action. On Saturday night the Golden Eagles (20-4, 9-2) look to recapture the magic when they open a modest two-game homestand against the St. John's Red Storm (12-12, 3-9). All thi...

We've not discussed the distracting and useless ESPN Interactive Tuesday feature from the Villanova game, but I can't stop thinking about what a disgrace it was and how much it detracted from what should have been an enjoyable game to watch. Finally, I had enough. Below is a letter I sent to ESPN's ...

Yeesh. Fresh off of the worst offensive output of the year, Marquette ended up with their worst defensive effort of the year. In comparison to the season average (1.14 points per possession), Marquette's offense actually wasn't all that off. Yes, Villanova hit an effective field goal percentage of 6...

When he arrived on campus as awkward shooting freshman with a reputation as a rugged defender, nobody expected Jerel McNeal to stamp his name in the Marquette record books as a scorer. Tonight at Villanova, the multi-talented McNeal could do just that. The 6'3" senior guard needs 21 points to break ...

Yet again, Marquette takes on a desperate opponent that needs a win. Just like Notre Dame, Georgetown (12-7, 3-5) needs to win a game badly. The Hoyas have lost four in a row, and six of their last eight, including a 65-57 loss at Cincinnati. However, a team that managed to take on a desperate ND te...

UPDATED Fresh off of a pummeling tuneup that Marquette delivered to DePaul. Wait, that didn't happen. Okay, after beating DePaul by nine, the team gets two days rest before tipoff in South Bend. Last year, Marquette and ND faced off three times, with MU blitzkrieging ND in the first game and losing ...
