Out and about

If you're in the Baltimore area, and want to learn more about blogs and blogging, head on over to the Maryland Apple Corps November meeting. I'll be speaking about blogging (officially from a Mac perspective, but as I've never owned a Mac, it will probably be more general). Many thanks to Ross Karchner for passing along the opportunity.

The details: November 8, 2005. 6:30-8:45 PM at the Towson Library (320 York Rd, Towson, MD, 21204) in the Lower Level Meeting Room.

As a bit of a preview, I'm going to start with the basics of blogging, talk about the different options, etc. I'd like to cover RSS/syndication/aggregation, and get into a little bit about Blogdigger, but I'm going to play it by ear and see how familiar the audience is with these topics. If anything, I'd like to convey that blogging isn't only about text; Anytime you add content to the web in a public fashion, whether that's a link, a photo, a video, an event or a plain old post about your cats, that's blogging (Fred Wilson said it best).

So come on out, if you're in the neighborhood. I was told that the folks from the group get together afterwards as well, I'll be sticking around to talk blogging/drink beer into the wee hours of the morning.

I'm also speaking at an upcoming conference. If I have gaged the panel participants correctly, I'll get a chance to discuss this post with some of the people directly involved. Fun, fun!
