Podcasting with...Notepad!

Yahoo does podcasting. I'm listening to John Furrier's interview now. Quick thoughts:

In their tutorial on podcasting (the tutorial that my mother will likely read on podcasting), Yahoo suggests using a combination of Geocities and Notepad to create the RSS feed for your podcast. Holy 1997, Batman! Does there not exist a simple way to quickly create a podcast automatically that Yahoo can direct users towards? If not, there's a significant opportunity here. Services that come to mind are Slapcast and LibSyn.

Also of note: Yahoo is suggesting the iTunes metadata markup to podcasters...whither goest Media RSS?

Things I like: Yahoo Music Engine integration and the search , available by both series and episode. Just like Yahoo Video, they're pulling lots of stuff found by Blogdigger Media.

From the search and find perspective, Yahoo is using a combination of ratings and tags. Noticeably absent is the ability to see what your friends are subscribing too, something that Odeo has.
